GM Zbigniew Pakleza's simultan at the SLB Inauguration

Warsaw, October 28, 2023

The SGH Chess Business League, a unique event combining the worlds of business and chess, started its first season in great style. The inauguration of the league, which took place in the historic interior of the Warsaw School of Economics, was a real celebration for chess lovers.

In addition to the league games, the main attraction of the evening was a simultaneous show with Grandmaster Zbigniew Pakleza, who faced several competitors at the same time, representing various business sectors.

One of the most exciting games of this simultaneous match was the game between GM Zbigniew Pakleza (white) and Sławomir Kędzierski representing the Polish Army (black). The game started with the English opening (1.c4) and ended with a draw on the 68th move after a dynamic game full of strategic twists.

During the game, we observed some fascinating maneuvers, both in the mid- and end-game. A particularly interesting moment was when Black, after a series of exchanges, gained a pawn advantage, which gave them a chance to win. However, Pakleza's experience and skills allowed him to defend his position, leading to a draw.

This meeting was not only a demonstration of masterful chess play, but also proof of how chess can be a fascinating element in the integration of business environments. The participants had the opportunity not only to compete with the grandmaster, but also to establish new business contacts and exchange experiences in an informal atmosphere.
